A Story by the Sea
Santa Fe was born out of a love story. In 1974, a couple from
California arrived in a virtually deserted Zicatela and knew they had
found their place. The dream of a beachfront home became, in 1982, a
hotel with just ten rooms and, over the years, one of the most iconic
spots on the Oaxacan coast. A gathering place for travelers, surfers,
locals, artists, and generations who have made Santa Fe their home by
the sea.
Today, Santa Fe is being revitalized by Hamak Hotels, preserving its
essence while ensuring comfort: spacious, airy rooms designed for
relaxation and a sense of home. Fine dining, a strong connection to
the community, and a program of experiences and activities to share
the Puerto Escondido and Oaxaca that we know and continue to enjoy
discovering alongside our guests.
The Puerto Escondido We Want to Share
Puerto Escondido keeps the free rhythm of a seaside town that has
grown without losing its essence. Surfing, fishing, coffee,
gastronomy, and deep Oaxacan roots coexist among beaches and nature.
We want to invite you to discover it the way we know it: walk its
streets, taste its flavors, meet its people, and let yourself be
carried away by its particular way of life.
Zicatela, Our Home
Facing Santa Fe is Zicatela: three kilometers of Pacific coastline,
sand, and big waves that have made it one of the most renowned surf
beaches in the world. Intense, free, and always in motion, it is an
inseparable part of Santa Fe's history and spirit.
